Motor vehicle license reports, 1945-[ongoing].

Each month the probate judge is required to file a report of the licenses issued and fees received by his office for motor vehicle licenses and registrations including temporary tags (see Ala. Code, 40-12-269 [1975]). This report consists of a certified list of all motor vehicle licenses issued in the preceding month and provides amount collected for each license tag, the tag number, the motor or vehicle identification number, the vehicle serial number, the name and address of the owner, and the date of issue. A copy of the list is sent to the State Comptroller and the Department of Revenue and one is retained by the probate judge. This schedule also covers the Temporary Tag Remittance Advice Report. This record began in 1945 and continues to the present. The Comptroller, Department of Finance, maintains series S-9-2, Motor Vehicle License Reports. The Department of Revenue retains its copy S-24-1, Registers of Motor Vehicle License Receipts.
